President Mohammadu Buhari has described Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama as a man of peace and remarkable humility.
The President stated this during the Installation of Most Reverend Ignatius Kaigama at the Cathedral of the twelve Apostle Kubwa Abuja.
He said the Archbishop is a fellow who remained committed to peace and unity thanking God for his elevation and congratulated his Eminence John Cardinal Onayekan on his retirement.
Speaking, Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku eulogies the good virtue of Archbishop Kaigama who gave his life at a very tender age in Kona, Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State.
He said they have drawn from his wisdom describing him as a man of peace and humility.
The Governor assured him of the prayers of Tarabans to enable him succeed.
In his reflection, Archbishop Ovaleria Okeke of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha disclosed that the appointment of Bishops is the sole responsibility of the Pope without considering ethnicity, political,family or Diocesan pressure.
He called on the Church to rise up and speak against corruption, nepotism and poverty that has continued to ravage Nigerians.
On his part Representative of Pope Francis to Nigeria Nuncio Antonio Filipazzi commended the Archbishop of Abuja for his apostolic work within and outside the state.
He opined that John Cardinal Onayekan will be having a busy retirement because he is still a member of the Roman courier that will be serving in various initiatives in the world.
In his inaugural Speech, the Archbishop of Abuja Most Reverend Ignatius Kaigama thanked Pope Francis for giving him the opportunity to serve as the Apostolic leader of the Catholic faithful in Abuja metropolitan and pledged his renewed loyalty and devotedness to him.
He saluted his predecessor John cardinal Onayekan for his zeal and courage in the service of the Lord and wished him a tranquil and restful retirement.
Kaigama challenged political leaders in the Country to provide succour to the poor,widows and provide jobs for youths than flying on plane avoiding the bad roads in the Country which those that voted for them ply.
The Installation ceremony featured Goodwill messages from the Chairman of Governors forum Kayode Fayemi, Governor of Plateau Simon Lalong and others.
Secretary General of the Federation Boss Mustapha, Ministers, Former Speaker of the House of Representative Yakubu Dogara, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, Aku Uka of Wukari Shekaru Angyu, Chief of Kona Augustine Njemang and other dignitaries attended the ceremony.
