Governor Ishaku together with other Northeast Governors stepping in to have a meeting with President Buhari.

Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku was among the six governors of the North East geo-political zone that held a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari today (AUGUST 10, 2020) in Abuja.

The meeting held inside the Presidential Villa was convened to discuss security problems confronting states in the region.

The North East geo-political region has been the target of the deadly Boko Haram insurgency for more than a decade.

The insurgency has claimed thousands of lives, destroyed the social and economic lives of the people and left in its trail monumental problems of internally displaced persons, IDPs.

Recently, Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno State escaped death by the whiskers following an attack on his convoy by dare-devil Boko Haram killer squad.

The attack is the latest evidence that Boko Haram fighters are unrelenting despite claims of numerous successful attacks and decimation of their formations by the military.

Today’s meeting is expected to enable the governors of the region to make an input on how the region can be salvaged from the jaws of insurgency.
