Deputy Governor, Engr. Haruna Manu at the Venue of the Two-Days Workshop organized by the Ministry of Budget and Planning for LG Chairmen and Others.

A two days training workshop on capacity building of Local Govt Chairmen organized by Ministry of Budget and Planning has been flagged off in Jalingo.

The state Deputy Governor Haruna Manu represented the Governor at the opening ceremony held at Shield Hotel.

The workshop organized by Taraba State Ministry of Budget and Planning in Collaboration with the European Union Oxfam Prosell is an initiative of the Federal Government to support states in their efforts to deliver services efficiently to the citizens using the limited resources at their disposal.

Declaring the ceremony open, the state Deputy Governor, Haruna Manu appreciated the ministry and facilitators for the idea noting that the workshop is timely and critical as it will build the capacities of key stakeholders at the third tier of government being the closest to to the people at the Grassroots.

The Deputy Governor advised the Chairmen to transmit the knowledge acquired to work in their various jurisdictions to make life better for the masses.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Budget and Planning Solomon Elisha who is also the convener of the convener of the programme said the ministry is poised to reposition the local government councils across the state and strengthen the economy of Taraba State especially now that most states are grappling with the effect of the Covid-19 Pandemic.He called on participants in the training to make judicious use of the opportunity to boost their productivity.

In their goodwill messages,the Permanent Secretary Bureau for Local Govt and Chieftaincy Affairs Bello Yero represented by Secretary of the Bureau Patricia Nyam and one of the facilitators from European Prosell Joseph Babangida wished the participants a fruitful deliberation.

The workshop later went into a technical session.
