The Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has received his first jab of the covid-19 vaccine, indicating the official kick-off of the exercise in the state.

The exercise took place at the Government House premises Jalingo.

It is on record that the state has received over 56,250 doses meant for front-line health workers, strategic leaders and security personnels as well as others from ages of 18-22.

The vaccines were allocated after training of health workers from state, local government and ward levels were done.

The Governor, while speaking during the exercise, called on everyone to join hands with the state government in order to have a smooth vaccination of the Covid-19 rollout.

He urged the health workers to take advantage of this period to get vaccinated in order to guard against infection.

The governor said the alleged propaganda going round the social media concerning the effectiveness of the vaccine is not true because from findings, the vaccine is safe and effective and that is why he has been vaccinated.

He said prevention is better than cure as he urged the people to use this opportunity to get vaccinated.

He said over 75,000 people all over including Mr. President have been vaccinated with no news of any side effects so far.

The Governor appreciated his deputy, the Speaker and all front line workers who contributed and sacrificed in making sure that the spread of the virus was reduced to a minimum.

He again charged Tarabans not to forget the covid-19 protocol and urged them to continue observing them.

The Coordinator and development partner NPHCD, Dr. Mahmud appreciated the governor for his proactiveness in establishing centres and covid-19 technical committee since the breakout of the pandemic.

He thanked the governor for his hospitality since they arrived the state and went ahead to applaud the support rendered to them in going round and the establishing of centres.

The Executive Secretary, NPHCD Alh. Aminu Hassan while speaking said they in the agency are not surprised by the governor’s presence because he has always taken the health of Tarabans as his priority.

He called on Tarabans to support all frontline workers so as to have smooth vaccination across the state.
