The Taraba state government has inaugurated a taskforce committee on immunization that will serve as the central coordinating committee for all immunization programs in the state alongside other key sectors in the health industry like primary health care services as well as implementing all resolutions from the National Taskforce on Immunization.

The inauguration of the committee took place at the office of the Deputy Governor with him serving as the chairman of the committee amongst top stakeholders from critical sectors in the state.

The Deputy Governor explains further that it was important to know that members of the committee was composed of key drivers from all critical stakeholders inline with ministries, security organizations, religious organizations, traditional leaders and civil society groups, adding that their activities have direct link in one way or the other with immunization and other primary health care related services in our community.

He charged the committee members to take their responsibilities with utmost seriousness, reminding that they were not selected by chance but purely by their track records.

Manu reeled out terms of reference for the committee by charging them to always adhere to rules involved in selection of key personnel in IDPs (vaccinators, supervisors, ward focal points) to ensure that all personnel to be recruited met the laid down criteria.

He added that the committee will be charged with the responsibility of overseeing the preparation of budgets for timely allocation of resources to ensure smooth operation of immunization activities.

List of the committee members inaugurated includes; the Deputy Governor, Engr. Haruna Manu as the Chairman, Dr. Innocent Vakkai, Hon. Hauwa Kwena, Alh. Bello Yero, Hon. Johanes Jigem, Hon. Danjuma Adamu, Hon. Bala S. Bako, HRM Aku-Uka Kuvyo II, Dr. Shekara’u Angyu Masa Ibbi and Dr. Ebenezer Spake.

Other members include, Mr. Bitrus Nyaws, Rev (Dr) Isaiah Magaji Jirapye, Mal. Bashir Idris, Mr. David Nyah, Alh. Farouk Ismail, Mr. Dettoh Nganso, Moh’d Ahmed Azare, Nuhu Kutuna, Usman Waksha, Alh. Bashir Abubakar, Alh. Aminu Jauro Hassan and Dr. KennethTijp Mingeh as Secretary.
