The governor made this call at a public hearing organised by the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission in Gombe for the six states of the north-east.
The governor who was represented by the honourable commissioner for budget and planning, Hon. Solomon Elisha, said that the current formula that gives the federal government 52.68% and only 26.72% to all the 36 States of the federation and only 20.60% for the entire 774 local governments is not adequate considering that States and local governments are closer to the people.
He suggested that a formula of 40% to the federal government, 35% to the state’s and 25% to the local governments.
The governor advocates for true federalism that will meet the expectations of Nigerians and being the dividend of democracy to the grassroot .
