Hon. Solomon Elisha Commissioner of Budget and Planning,

The Executive Governor of Taraba state, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has called for Allocation of more revenue to States and local governments to meet the challenges of cost of governance the lower level.

The governor made this call at a public hearing organised by the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission in Gombe for the six states of the north-east.

The governor who was represented by the honourable commissioner for budget and planning, Hon. Solomon Elisha, said that the current formula that gives the federal government 52.68% and only 26.72% to all the 36 States of the federation and only 20.60% for the entire 774 local governments is not adequate considering that States and local governments are closer to the people.

He suggested that a formula of 40% to the federal government, 35% to the state’s and 25% to the local governments.

The governor advocates for true federalism that will meet the expectations of Nigerians and being the dividend of democracy to the grassroot .
