The Executive Governor, His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas.

His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has declared a state of emergency on basic and post-basic education in the state. During a media interactive session held in Jalingo, Governor Kefas expressed his administration’s commitment to ensuring compulsory and free quality education for all residents.

Recognizing the crucial role of educators in shaping the future of the state, he promised to motivate teachers and improve their welfare.

Highlighting the importance of security, Governor Kefas assured the people of Taraba State that the protection of lives and property would be his topmost priority. He emphasized the need to create a safe and conducive environment for learning, acknowledging that quality education is only possible when residents feel secure.

Furthermore, Governor Kefas announced his administration’s intention to adopt a Peer Review Mechanism in the allocation of development projects to local government areas. He stressed the importance of involving the people in decision-making processes by allowing them to choose their areas of priority in developmental projects. Governor Kefas emphasized that the opinions and preferences of the residents would be considered to ensure that projects are tailored to meet their specific needs.

“We shall consult the people of various local government areas to decide on projects that are good for them. They are the ones who voted for us, and as such, we should engage them in project locations. This would enable us to serve them better,” Governor Kefas stated.

The declaration of a state of emergency in education and the focus on teacher training, improved welfare, and community engagement reflect Governor Kefas’ determination to revitalize the educational sector in Taraba State. With a renewed commitment to providing quality education and addressing the pressing needs of the people, Governor Kefas aims to create a brighter future for the residents of Taraba State.
