Governor Agbu Kefas has reaffirmed the Taraba State Government's commitment to accelerating economic growth through strategic investments in energy, infrastructure, and agriculture following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
The agreement, signed during a high-level business meeting at the T.Y. Danjuma House in Abuja, marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at supporting the implementation of the Taraba Development Master Plan 2024 and unlocking new opportunities for sustainable development across the state.
Governor Kefas expressed optimism about the partnership, noting that collaboration with CCECC will facilitate investments in energy distribution and the development of a new hydropower project, strengthening Taraba's capacity to meet growing energy demands while driving industrial and economic expansion.
He explained that the partnership aligns with his administration's long-term vision of transforming Taraba into a destination for investment by delivering modern infrastructure, expanding economic opportunities, and improving the quality of life for residents.
Discussions during the meeting focused on three priority areas of the administration's development agenda: energy development, infrastructure expansion, and initiatives that promote food security and economic stability.
Governor Kefas highlighted several ongoing projects, including the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo, describing the project as a critical investment that will improve connectivity, attract investment, and open Taraba State to greater national and international opportunities.
He also outlined plans to expand the state's road network, strengthen transportation systems, improve natural resource management, and promote mechanised agriculture alongside modern storage and processing facilities to enhance agricultural productivity and food security.
Representing CCECC, President Chan Sichang, through Chief Executive Director Zhou Dongping, reaffirmed the company's commitment to supporting Taraba State's development objectives. He acknowledged the vital role of infrastructure in driving economic growth and expressed confidence in the partnership.
Providing an update on the Taraba Development Master Plan, Engr. Alex Oniegbu explained that the blueprint extends beyond Jalingo to cover all sixteen Local Government Areas and the three senatorial zones, laying the foundation for balanced and inclusive development throughout the state.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor of Taraba State, members of the National Assembly, the Minister of State for Regional Development, traditional rulers, and members of the State Executive Council, reflecting a shared commitment to delivering transformative projects that will position Taraba State as a leading destination for investment and sustainable development.
