The Chief Judge of Taraba State, Hon. Justice Joel Agya, has announced the 2026 Annual Vacation of the Taraba State High Court, which will commence on Monday, 3 August 2026, and conclude on Sunday, 4 October 2026.

The announcement was made through Taraba State Legal Notice No. 3 of 2026, issued in accordance with the provisions of Order 8 of the High Court Rules 2011, which authorises the Chief Judge to designate the annual vacation period for the High Court by notification published in the state gazette.

During the vacation period, regular court sittings across all divisions of the Taraba State High Court will be suspended. However, the judiciary will continue to provide access to justice by hearing urgent matters where immediate judicial intervention is required.

The Chief Judge further explained that, in addition to urgent applications, a matter may be heard during the vacation where all parties involved jointly request that the case be taken within the vacation period.

To ensure the continued administration of justice, Hon. Justice Clara Kataps has been appointed as the Vacation Judge and will preside over urgent matters throughout the annual vacation.

The Taraba State Judiciary encourages legal practitioners, litigants, and members of the public to take note of the vacation schedule while assuring them that essential judicial services will remain available for matters requiring urgent attention.
