Since assuming office in 2023, Governor Agbu Kefas has approved the release of more than ₦7 billion for the payment of pensions, gratuities, death benefits, and other retirement entitlements, reaffirming the Taraba State Government's commitment to the welfare of retired public servants.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Re-Orientation, Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, the administration has consistently prioritised the timely settlement of pension obligations while sustaining monthly funding to reduce outstanding arrears owed to retirees.
The Commissioner explained that the released funds have been used to settle pension benefits, gratuities, death benefits, and other retirement entitlements, ensuring that many retired civil servants receive the financial support they are due after years of dedicated service to the state.
She noted that the prompt payment of pensions remains a key priority of the Governor Agbu Kefas administration, reflecting its broader commitment to improving workers' welfare, restoring confidence in the public service, and promoting responsible governance.
Barr. Jalingo further emphasised that the administration recognises the invaluable contributions of retired workers to the growth and development of Taraba State, adding that every pension and gratuity paid represents the government's appreciation for their years of service.
The state government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that retirees continue to receive the dignity, recognition, and benefits they deserve while maintaining efforts to clear outstanding pension arrears through sustained monthly allocations.
