Gov. Ishaku Shocked and Saddened by the Killing of Six Soldiers During a Military Operation to Save Lives in Takum

Taraba State Governor, His Excellency, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has received with great shock and sadness news of the killing of six soldiers of the 93 Battalion, Takum in an ambush by bandits during a military operation in Takum Local Government Area of the state.

He also expressed worry about the fate of the Commanding officer of the Battalion who was declared missing after the operation.

He said the attack on civilians and police officers in Takum which prompted the reaction of the soldiers from the 93 Battalion had proved that the bandits had become even more desperate than ever to kill and to maim innocent people.

Governor Ishaku praised the gallantry of the soldiers led by the commanding officer of the battalion for reacting promptly to the distress calls by the people of the areas under the seize of the bandits but regretted that the operation resulted in the unfortunate death of six military officers and the uncertainty over the whereabouts of the commanding officer.

He commiserated with the military, the immediate and extended families of the deceased military officers and urged Nigerians to also pray for the safe return of the Commanding Officer of the Battalion.

Governor Ishaku used the opportunity to renew his calls on the people of the state to be vigilant and to always monitor strangers coming into their communities. He prayed God to grant the souls of the deceased soldiers eternal rest.

Approval to Oversee Ngada Special Development Area

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has given approval to allow Mr. Ishaku Joseph Shamaki, the Deputy Coordinator, Ngada Special Development Area to oversee the Special Development Area following the resignation of Mr. Joseph Nagombe, the Coordinator, Ngada Special Development Area who is vying for elective position in the 2023 election.

This was contained in a letter from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the State dated 9/5/2022 and signed by the Permanent Secretary P/CA & General Services for the Secretary to the Government of the State.

Mr. Shamaki was asked to live up to the responsibilities and challenges of his new office even as he was congratulated and assured of the necessary support needed to be effective in his office.

Press Release: Personal Assistant to Governor Ishaku’s Wife Passes On

 The Personal Assistant to Her Excellency, the wife to the Governor of Taraba State, Mrs Joyce Nguhidel Wayo Haruna has passed on.

Aged 57years, Mrs Joyce Nguhidel Wayo died on 27th of April 2022 in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory after a brief illness.

Until her death, Mrs Joyce Nguhidel Wayo was a staff of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA Keffi in Nassarawa state before picking up appointment as Personal Assistant to the Governor’s wife in 2015.

She is survived by her children, brothers and sisters.

Prominent among her sibling is the wife of the Governor of Taraba state, Mrs Anna Darius Dickson Ishaku.

According to the funeral programme released by the family,there will be service of songs on Wednesday, 11th May, 2022 at her residence by government lodge, behind ALGON clinic, Ado Kasa road, New Karu in Nassarawa state.

It further states that the funeral service will hold the next day, 12th May 2022 at 11am in the morning at Saint Jude’s Anglican Church, Baminda street, Wuse zone 3, Abuja behind FRSC headquarters after which the internment at Gudu Cemetery.

Meanwhile, there will be a reception immediately after the internment at the Taraba state Government lodge, TY Danjuma house, along TY Danjuma street, Asokoro Abuja.

Gov. Ishaku Rejoices with the Muslim Ummah on this Year’s Eid-El-Fitr, Calls for Support and Full Participation in the Political Transition Process

His Excellency, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has congratulated the Muslim Ummah in the state on the occasion of this year’s Eid-El-Fitr being celebrated globally today.

He praised them for the discipline and sacrifice they exhibited throughout the holy month of Ramadan and prayed Allah to accept their Ibadah.

Governor Ishaku also used the occasion to assure Muslims in the state and indeed Tarabans generally that the welfare of the people remains the priority of his administration and that everything would be done to create and sustain the desired ambience of peace for them to pursue their legitimate activities.

He condemned the recent bomb explosions in the state and expressed sympathy with those who lost their relations and those who sustained injuries. He urged the people to be vigilant and to remain steadfast in their prayers for Allah to expose and punish those behind this evil against innocent people.

Governor Ishaku also solicited for the support and full participation of the people in the political transition process that has already begun in the state and the country at large to ensure the election of the right calibre of leaders for the state and the country.

He wished the Muslim Ummah peaceful Eid-El-Fitr celebrations.

“Enforce the Law Banning Motorcycle Operations”; Gov. Ishaku Tells Security Agencies

Taraba state Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has again directed security agencies in the state to enforce the law banning the operation of all categories of motorcycles in the state capital.

This was contained in a Press Release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Elder Iliya Bekyu Akweh.

It states that the Governor emphasised the need for the security agencies to spread their dragnet and arrest violators of the order including security agents who are not only contravening the law but conniving with criminal elements to undermine government’s good intentions.

That the Governor pointed out that unless the violators of the order are arrested and dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law, the wave of criminality would continue to rise in the society.

Accordingly, Mile 6, Sabo Gari, ATC, Nukkai, Jauro-Yinu, Roadblock to Kona, Hammaruwa, Barde, Jolly Nyame ways, Specialist Hospital road, Mallam Joda, Abuja Phase one and two, Angwan Kassa, Sabon Layi and the Suburbs of the state capital were listed as the major places to be covered by security operatives to enforce the order.

According to the Governor, the state government has not exempted any individual or organisation from the ban, insisting that no culprit should be spared and operators of motorcycles were not only constituting themselves into nuisance in the society but were now promoters of criminal activities in the state.

It states that the Governor cautioned the people of the state on the need for them to be aware of the influx of non indigenes in their midst especially criminal elements who have infiltrated the state with the sole aim to distabilize the existing peace and that those identified should be exposed to the law enforcement agencies for necessary action.

He stressed the need for security operatives to ensure periodic visits to hotels, brothels, beer parlours, recreational centres, motor parks, markets among others to rid the state of criminality.

Similarly, the stipulated official approved period for operators of tricycles otherwise called keke napep in Jalingo metropolis and its suburbs still continues and in view of the foregoing, Governor Ishaku directed the operators to ensure strict compliance with the order or have themselves to blame.

The Governor further emphasised the need for security operatives to seriously extend the stop and search of motorists to the operators of keke napep to avert any impending evil plot against the state.

PRESS RELEASE: Gov. Ishaku Condemns in Strong Terms the Bomb Blast at Nukkai Market Area

Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has condemned in strong terms the bomb blast yesterday at Nukkai Market area in Jalingo metropolis.

Governor Ishaku described the incident as ungodly, inhuman, barbaric and a deliberate attempt by evil people to distabilize the state.

The Governor pointed out that the blast was the second in the state in four days and vowed to deal with perpetrators to ensure the protection of lives and properties of the citizenry.

He directed security agencies in the state to network through proper investigation to fish out the terrorists whom he said are working relentlessly to distabilize the peace of the state.

The Governor further directed security agencies to immediately introduce operation stop and search across the state especially in the State Capital to check mate the nefarious activities of terrorists and their cohorts who have infiltrated the state recently.

According to the Governor, it is disheartening for lives of innocent citizens and their properties be destroyed without any act of provocation by criminals who do not have an iota of regard for the sanctity of human lives and assured that no stone will be left unturned to unravel the mystery surrounding their heinous and dastardly act.

The Governor however advised people of the state to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons in their midst to Security Agents for immediate action with a view to averting a recurrence of the ugly incident.

Ishaku particularly implored the people of the state to avoid public places such as recreational centres and other crowded areas which are possible soft targets of the terrorists, emphasizing that Taraba State needs peace to develop and not bombers to distabilize the state.

He further frowned at the recent happenings in the state and pointed out that his administration would not allow evil people and their sponsors including those harbouring them to distabilize the peace he had worked hard to restore in the state.

The Governor directed the Ministry of Urban Planning and Environment to ensure that hawkers and traders who have establish mini markets at unapproved places in the state capital to evacuate those areas forthwith or have themselves to blame.

Ishaku further assured the people of the state of his administration’s readiness to rid the state of criminality and advised them to go about their lawful duties stressing that the government was on top of the situation

He commiserated with those injured in the blast and are receiving treatment in the hospitals and promised Government assistance to ameliorate their suffering.
