NEW YEAR MESSAGE OF HIS EXCELLENCY, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF TARABA STATE, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku. Happy and prosperous new year, fellow good people of Taraba State. First of all, I wish to congratulate every Taraban on the occasion of the new year, 2022, and to offer my heartfelt gratitude to God Almighty for his kindness and mercy, as well as the excellent and amazing things he has done in our lives in the previous year.
Taraba State has had a very interesting year in 2021, and the good Lord has been able to see us through despite the ups and downs along the way.
Today, our new year’s resolutions should be to make a solemn pledge to be decent citizens by providing our fair share, no matter how small, to make our beloved state a better place for everybody.
We can only accomplish this if we follow the law and inculcate the spirit of love, togetherness, and being our brother’s keeper. Our watchword should be security awareness.
Late last year, I had the opportunity of donating Toyota Hilux vans to security organizations in order for them to properly carry out surveillance of the state.
Everyone has a civic duty to cooperate and provide pertinent information to law enforcement officials. The security forces in the state have made substantial contributions to the reduction of armed banditry, herdsmen/farmers clashes, tribal feuds, and kidnapping and therefore need our cooperation.
In the run-up to the 2023 general election, political activity will pick significantly in 2022. All political parties would hold primaries to select candidates for various political offices. As a result, I implore individuals who intend to run for office to exercise restraint.
Let us play the game by the rules so that the will of the people is respected and protected at the end of the day.
I would also like to appeal to religious leaders, traditional rulers, parents, and guardians to keep a tight grip on the youths so that they do not become agents of instability in the hands of misguided individuals seeking power at any cost. Because our common humanity transcends our ethnic, religious, and political ties, we must protect the sanctity of all lives.
Permit me to take this opportunity to urge the Presidency and the National Assembly to work together to create an electoral act that will make elections transparent and acceptable to Nigerians and the international community.
Finally, I wish to reassure Tarabans of the Rescue Mission’s resolve to continue providing democratic dividends and completing all existing projects before the conclusion of our tenure next year.
The Executive Governor of Taraba state, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, FNIA, FNITP has on behalf of himself, the government and the entire people of Taraba state, joined Nigerians to congratulate Engineer Saleh Mamman on his well deserved appointment as Minister of Power.
The governor in his congratulatory message described the minister as an Illustrious son of the state and that the people of Taraba state are proud of this honour done to the state by President Muhammadu Buhari through his appointment.
He expressed his sincere appreciation to the President on behalf of the state, noting that the position of a cabinet minister of power is a rare privilege for the state and has come at a time that Tarabans are pleading for the commencement of the Mambilla Hydro Electric Dam located in our dear state.
He further noted that the appointment of Engr. Saleh Mamman as Minister of Power at this point in time has reinforced the hope of all Tarabans and the entire Nigerian populace that the Mambilla Hydro Electric Dam and other projects located in the state will now receive the desired attention of the federal government.
“The Taraba state Government under my leadership is willing and ready to support you fully in the discharge of your duties as Honourable minister.”
“We Congratulate you and wish you the best of luck.”
Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku, FNIA, FNITP Executive Governor
The Executive Governor, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku has used the occassion of Eid-el-Kabir celebration by our Muslim Ummah in the state to appeal to all the warring factions in southern part of Taraba to sheath their sword and allow peace to reign.
This was contained in the goodwill message by the governor to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The governor urged them to support the numerous peace building measures jointly put in place by his administration and that of his Benue state counterpart.
He said that Eid-el-Kabir comes always with the great lesson of humility and tolerance as exemplified by the Great Prophet of Islam and also reminds us of the need for sacrifice on our part to ensure peace and prosperity in our country and state.
The governor appealed for us to, therefore, resolve on this auspicious occasion to support the efforts of government to ensure lasting peace throughout the state stressing that no sacrifice is too much for this to be achieved.
“My good people of Taraba State, let me also seize the opportunity of this Sallah celebration to restate my commitment to work with the adherents of all religions in the state to achieve peace.”
“As I have always said, there can be no development without peace. We will continue to provide an enabling atmosphere for the adherents of all religions to practice the faith of their choice freely as enshrined and guaranteed by our constitution.”
“In doing so, my administration has consistently synergized and engaged with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the Muslim Council. I’m glad that this synergy has immensely assisted our people to find religious fulfillment.”
“We have, since assumption of office, pursued the policy whereby thousands of Christians and Muslims are sponsored by the administration to go on pilgrimages to Israel and Saudi Arabia.”
“Even as I address you now, hundreds of Taraba State Muslims are in the Holy land of Saudi Arabia performing their religious obligations on the sponsorship of my administration. This policy will remain an integral part of my administration.”
“I urge our pilgrims currently in Mecca and Medina to pray fervently for peace and development in Nigeria and in Taraba State. I also urge the entire Muslim Ummah back home in the State to use the opportunity of this Eid-el-Kabir to do same.”
Governor Ishaku prayed that the Almighty Allah accepts all Ibada of our Pilgrims and bring them back safely home to reunite with their loved ones and wished our Muslim Ummah Eid-el-Kabir celebration and Allah’s blessings always.
