Governor Ishaku has attributed his emergence as the sole candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to the belief Tarabans have in him.

Speaking to Journalists after the State delegates gave him an overwhelming vote, he stated that he was delighted with the results adding that it was a clear sign of the love citizens had for him and the belief that he had delivered the first phase of the dividends of democracy.

He further stressed that the next phase of his administration would be to merge on the gains so far and break more grounds.

“I’m deeply touched by the support of Tarabans most especially our party the PDP for finding me worthy of another shot at the Government House”.

“Indeed Tarabans have spoken and it’s now time to hit the road and get everyone to come out en mass and vote for our party both at State and the national levels”. He noted.

Gov. Ishaku Consoles People of Zing LGA over Fire Incident

Governor Darius  Ishaku has condoled with the people of Zing Local Government Area over Wednesday’s fire incident that has left ten dead and scores sustaining life threatening injuries.

The incident which has left the Governor and the people of the State deeply sad occurred when a tanker carrying fuel exploded near a busy spot in the town, killing many. Describing it as heartbreaking, the Governor said the Government is  looking seriously into the matter to critically assess the immediate and remote cause of the incident.

In a statement shared by Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Emmanuel Bello, Governor Ishaku said the incident left him deeply sad. He said, “I’m deeply touched by this incident because it is coming at a time when we are also dealing with all sorts of issues surrounding loss of lives from the herdsmen and other terrorists attacks.

“Life is sacred and when it is taken forcefully, it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. To families and friends of victims, I can say it is not only Zing that is mourning but the entire State. I therefore convey the Government’s heartfelt condolences to the people of Zing, especially to the victims.

“We pray God to give them the fortitude to bear these loss. While we can’t restore lives, we are committed to assisting victims as they grapple with this tragedy. Already we have deployed health support facilities and working with other agencies to provide first aid succour to affected persons”

He said that apart from the prompt response mechanisms in place, which was effectively deployed, Government is committed to dealing with tankers menace working with relevant road safety agencies.

Taraba state Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has acknowledged and appreciated all those who commiserated with the Government and people of Taraba state on the sudden death the former Governor, Danbaba Danfulani Suntai.

The Governor revealed this in a Press Release signed by the Executive Governor of Taraba state, Darius Dickson Ishaku, where he thanked those that made out time to attend the funeral ceremonies held in Jalingo and Suntai, the home town of the late former Governor.

The Governor stated in the Release that he was deeply touched by the show of love, sympathy and solidarity with the Government, people of the state and indeed the immediate family of late Former Governor Suntai by eminent personalities from all parts of the country.

Accordingly, Governor Darius Ishaku also thanked the Governors of Ekiti state, Ayodele Peter Fayose, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe state and Simon Lalong of Plateau state.

Others were Senator Jonah David Jang, former Governor of defunct Gongola state and immediate past Governor of Plateau state and a serving Senator in the upper chamber of the National Assembly; Rev. Jolly Nyame, the former Governor of Taraba state and former Governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswam.

Also contained in the Release included first Military Administrator of Taraba state, Commodore Ambrose Adeyemi Afolahan, Boni Haruna, the former Governor of Adamawa state, all serving Deputy Governors and former Deputy Governors as well as representatives of state Governors that were present during State burial of late former Governor Suntai.

The Press Release equally appreciated members of both Federal and states Executive councils, members of the National Assembly, Speaker and members of the state House of Assembly, the state Chief Judge and members of the Judiciary in the state.

National and state leaders of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, all Bishops, Pastors, Imam and other anointed men of God, traditional rulers, members of the Diplomatic Corps and all other important personalities and groups too numerous to be listed.

Similarly, the Governor appreciated the massive turnout of the good people of Taraba state to honour our political departed leader, friend and brother and also thanked those that lined up along the routes, beginning from the Airport to the personal residence of the late Former Governor, all towns, and villages through which the convoy accompanying the corpse to his country home and final resting home passed.

Governor Darius Ishaku through the release acknowledged the active role played by members of of Taraba state Executive Council, the state House of Assembly and former state council members under the late Former Governor Suntai since the news of the death of the former Governor was broken to the state, as well as being part of the valedictory Executive Council session held in honour of late former Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai.

As contained in the Press Release, the Governor thanked them for the kind words they said about late Governor Suntai during the valedictory session.

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku commended security agencies in the state for their dedication, commitment and the extra vigilance they displayed throughout the two ceremonies, the Press for good and effective publicity during the events and the Central Planning Committee for a job well done.

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has expressed optimism towards the rapid transformation of Ngada special development area. The Governor made the remarks while addressing the congregation at the Haddadiyar Kristi a Nigeria. HEKAN center in Kaduna State. He said the Ngada area now has a cocoa farm, Clinic and a police outpost promising to do more to liberate the people out of the clutches of poverty.

Governor Ishaku commended his wife Barr. Anna Ishaku and her pet project, Hope Afresh Taraba, for identifying herself with the people which have resulted to unlocking the rich potentials of the area.

In his sermon General Secretary of HEKAN, Reverend Jibrilla Wobiya said the restoration of the Apostolic Church in the modern time begins with the individual.  The clergy said in restoring the dignity of the church Christians are to follow the teachings of Christ and to preach the good news. Taraba: Commission of Inquiry into Mambilla Crisis Calls for Memoranda

The Commission of inquiry into the recent crisis on the Mambilla Plateau in Taraba state set up by the state government has called on the public to submit written memoranda on the crisis.

Secretary of the Commission, Barr. Jibrin Hamidu in a statement issued yesterday in Jalingo added that Governor Darius Ishaku has approved two months extension for the Commission to carried out the assignment instead of the initial three weeks.

According to the statement such memoranda, which are to be submitted in 15 bound copies are to be addressed to the Secretary of the Commission at the State Ministry of Justice, State Secretariat Jalingo.

The statement further noted that the Commission will commence public hearing on August, 3rd in Gembu, headquarters of Sardauna local government.

Meanwhile, Governor Ishaku has declared that normalcy has completely returned on the Mambilla after the unfortunate incident that claimed several lives and properties.

In a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Hassan Mijinyawa, Ishaku admonished the people of the state to eschew violence and promote peaceful coexistence.

The governor who stated that his administration has articulated strategies to enhance the people’s wellbeing and safety said the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has distributed relief materials to the affected communities on the Mambilla and more relief materials were on the way.
