The Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba, is set to hold Taraba Cultural Carnival 2017 in Jalingo, the state capital. The event slated for December 15th and 16th 2017 would among other things feature; the diverse cultural heritage of Taraba State, mini trade fair/exhibition of artifacts, craft, artworks and generally made-in-Taraba products.
In view of this, registration of participation by interested individuals, cultural groups, individual and group artists, commences on Monday 16th through 31st October 2017.
Venue -Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba premises, along Specialist Hospital Road, Jalingo
Time -10am-4pm, work days only.

Her Excellency and CEO, Hope Afresh Foundation, Taraba, Barr. Mrs Anna Darius Dickson Ishaku
The Taraba State Government is partnering with the Trans-Atlantic Group Limited liability Company, North Carolina USA. The President of the company, Mr. Alfred Dickson who was represented by the team leader and Regional African Director, Dr. Samuel Darison declared his intentions of working with the Taraba Government through the Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba.
The team leader expressed the objective of joining forces with the foundation in the fight against drug abuse when the group paid Her Excellency, Barr. Anna Ishaku (Naa Ndola) a familiarization visit earlier in the week.
Barr. Anna told her visitors that the Hope Afresh Foundation is centered on rendering humanitarian service to the State. She informed them that the foundation has a partnership with National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Agency for Food and Drugs Control (NAFDAC), Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice and several other bodies in curbing the issue of Drug Abuse in the State.
The First Lady of Taraba State accompanied her visitors to some Organizations of the State such as the impending center of the Hope Rehabilitation house at Mile Six, the Green house and the Bio Resource Technology Center, all within Jalingo, the state’s capital.

Barr. Anna Ishaku
Wife of Taraba Governor, Barr. Mrs. Anna Ishaku in partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday presented cheques to over 200 graduands of skills acquisition training of the Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC) in Taraba.
At the ceremonial presentation of the cheques of N250,000 each to some of the graduands, Mrs. Ishaku congratulated the graduands for making her proud during the training and called on them to go out and make a difference in the society as employers of labour.
While praying for the success of their businesses, Anna told the gathering that her office through her foundation “Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba” has so far trained over 5000 people across the state in skills acquisition training, all aimed at making the people self reliance.
She thanked her financing partners (CBN and Taraba Micro Finance Bank) and the trainers for their support and encouragement, even as she urged the graduands not to misuse the funds but channeled them into businesses to become self reliant and boost the state economy.
Earlier, the programme Director of EDC for the northeast Mr. Idris Bawa commended the wife of the governor for her efforts in training the youths of the state and urged them to put to use the skills they have learnt during the training.
According to him, EDC will continue to support the graduands to access services and funds for their businesses, noting that EDC has so far trained 12,000 people across states in the north east with over 450 trained in Taraba between April and August this year.
In his remarks, representative of the CBN Mr. Nura Boyiga urged the participants to take the loan seriously and encouraged them to form cooperatives and apply with the CBN for onward linkage with commercial banks for easy access to the loans.
One of the beneficiaries who was awarded a cheque of N250,000, Mrs. Deborah Tyopuusu commended the wife of the governor for efforts to reduce poverty and check unemployment among the teeming population of the state, describing her as God sent to the people of the state.
Our correspondent reports that the first batch of graduands were presented with certificates and were encouraged to quickly complete documentation with the Taraba Micro Finance Bank to access the loan facility with interest rate pegged at 9 percent, while another batch is expected to graduate soon.

Taraba State Government in collaboration with United Nations’ Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has commenced training of 100 drugs treatment practitioners to provide evidence- based drugs treatment in the State.
At the flag off of the training workshop in Jalingo, Governor Ishaku said the training was not only the commitment of his administration to improve the way drug treatment service was being delivered in the State, but also to offer changes in communities negatively affected by drugs.
Ishaku noted that Government would soon commence the building of a drug treatment/rehabilitation facility within one of the State owned Hospitals in Jalingo, the State capital.
The Governor who said the training would go a long way in reducing drugs dependency in the State, pledged to institute clear policies that would support healthcare services in the State.
Earlier, wife of the Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku said during her campaign against drugs across the State, it was obvious that the problem needed urgent attention as the youths who are leaders of tomorrow were the most affected.
She called for the establishment of drugs Rehabilitation Centers in the State to help manage victims of drugs.
Barr. Anna Ishaku urged the participants to give quality attention to the training to enable them step down what they learnt during the training.
One of the Facilitators, Dr. Williams Ebite in a presentation said UNODC will provide technical support to the Taraba State Government to carry out drugs treatment/rehabilitation and support for victims, while Taraba State Government is expected to provide accommodation and logistics.
Our correspondent reports that the training workshop with 75 participants drawn from the three Senatorial Zones of the State is expected to last for four days.

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has expressed satisfaction with the speedy work at the Greenhouse farm.
Governor Darius Ishaku was speaking when he inspected the Greenhouse farm at the college of Agriculture Jalingo.
He said Tarabans would soon start enjoying the Cucumber, Pepper, Tomato and lettuce when harvest starts in three weeks.
The Governor remarked that when the farm begins harvesting, Tarabans would get the desired effect of the farm.
Governor Darius Ishaku disclosed that the farm has the capacity of employing more than five hundred youths.
Also speaking, the site Manager James Uchenna assured Tarabans that by the next three weeks, they would start enjoying vegetables from the farm.
Commenting, Moses Nsikkai who spoke on behalf of the workers, thanked Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku for his support to Youths in the state, urging him to do more.
Commissioner of Agriculture, David Ishaya Kassa and other aides accompanied the Governor.

The wife of Taraba State Governor who is also the Chief Executive Officer, CEO and Founder, Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku has applauded efforts of the Global City Teams Challenge (GCTC) Team in Jalingo for showcasing the State globally.
The wife of the Governor who gave the commendation at the Conference Hall of the Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba during the Team’s meeting stated that, they had not only brought victory to the Foundation, but to Taraba and Nigeria at large.
According to her,the Global Award earned by the Team can only be described as a miracle considering events that led to its achievement, stressing that she is proud of efforts put by the Team members in bringing Taraba to its present status.
Barr. Anna Ishaku explained that, the GCTC Smart City project is expected to bring about a feasible solution to the recurring problem of IDPs which has devastated the North East and Taraba in particular.
She further disclosed that, in a chat with NITDA officials in Abuja, her eyes were opened to great opportunities that abound if the project is sustained, stressing that the State Government will take over the project at this point as it is now beyond her office.
She assured the Team of her total commitment in ensuring that their hard work yields desired results.
Speaking earlier, the Chairperson GCTC Jalingo, Mrs. Grace Amaefula stated that through efforts of the Governor’s wife and the SSG’s office, the Taraba State Government Website which had been down was restored by the Nigerian Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA who later invited the Foundation for a workshop on the GCTC project.
According to her, that was the starting point of the project whereby the ICT unit of the Foundation attended the workshop in February 2016 alongside 5 other pilot States, one from each geopolitical Zone including Lagos and Abuja.
She further pointed out that, following the outcome of the workshop, Her Excellency suggested that Taraba focus its project on the Internally Displaced as that was the prevalent problem in the North East, adding that since then, the constant supervision, inputs and financial support of the Governor’s wife has been the reason for the success of the Team so far.
She also presented the achievements made by the Team to include; ascertaining the total number of IDPs, Identification of key IDPs problems, Global recognition and Leadership Award of 10000 Dollars by GCTC, GIS mapping of Jalingo, Talking Book for rural dwellers among many others.
In their separate remarks, two of the Team members, a retired Permanent Secretary with the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Amos Wanmi, and a lecturer with Taraba State University, Dr. Yahaya Salihu Emeje took turns to appreciate the Governor’s wife for her support to the group and passion towards salvaging the less privileged.
According to them, Her Excellency is a woman who makes the most out of every opportunity despite lean resources, to ‘make things happen’, stressing that in development, willpower is the key, therefore she should sustain the willpower in her and not allow discouragement to set in due to lack of resources as it will surely come.
Climax of the event was the presentation of Commendation Letters to Team members by the Governor’s wife.
