Taraba Killings: Five Killed Hours After Soldier’s Withdrawal Says LG Boss

Taraba Killings: Five Killed Hours After Soldier’s Withdrawal Says LG Boss

The Chairman of Donga Local Government Council, Hon. Nashuka Ipeyen on Sunday confirmed the killing of four persons in an attack at Sabon Gida hours after soldiers were withdrawn from the area.

Nashuka also said an Internally Displaced Person (IDP), was slaughtered at Tunari and three others missing when they went to pack some of their valuables and food stuff for their families.

He however, said the presence of the mobile police personnel deployed to the area prevented the attackers from razing down Sabon Gida village and appealed to the people to avoid going into the hinterlands until the security situation in the area improves.

Meanwhile,  the Chairman of Takum Local Government Area, Hon. Shiban Tikari has described as laughable, the statement by the Nigerian Army that Mr. Danjuma America and Danasabe Gasama arrested in the middle of the night in Takum recently were perpetrators of crisis in Takum and Ussa Local Government Areas of the State.

It would be recalled that the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Texas Chukwu had in a statement said Danjuma and Gasama were arrested on Friday by troops deployed for Operation Ayem Akpatuma in a community in Takum, following a tip-off.

Tikari advised the military to stop diverting attention of Nigerians from the main issues of their complicity in the attacks and killings going on in the State.

In his words,

“We have been crying on top of our voices that the Army Operatives of exercise Ayem Akpatuma were out for something. How come they have not told Nigerians about the arrest of the masterminds of the attack in Jandeikyula in Wukari Local Government Area where over 25 people were killed?

“They have not arrested the attackers killing our people in the villages since the killings in Takum and Ussa. These two boys they have arrested are indigenes of this area. Would they turn and be burning their houses and killing their own people?

“We have told them the routes the attackers have been using to come and attack us, rather than go into those areas and arrest the armed Fulani militia attacking us, they have  been busy harassing our people in the town.

“As we speak, the Commanding Officer of the 93 Battalion Takum,  Lt. Col. Ibrahim Gambari has withdrawn all soldiers at various check points in Takum LGA, so that’s the type of army we have in Takum now,” he lamented.

Tikari said he had since tabled his complaint against the action of the military before the Investigative Panel on the alleged collusion of the military with bandits to kill people in the State and appealed to the people of Takum to stay calm, pending the outcome of the investigations.
