
Atiku in Taraba, Pledges Timely Completion of Mambilla Power Project If Elected
The Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party,PDP, Alh. Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday pledged to build the Mambilla hydro power project within record time to boost the economy of the region and create jobs.
Atiku who was speaking at the PDP Presidential rally in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital described the purported award of the contract for construction of the Mambilla hydro power project which is yet to take off as a scam.
“I will finish the Mambilla Power project within my tenure if elected President.
“I will also refund the monies spent on the Federal roads built by the Taraba State Government and construct new ones.
“Taraba State is endowed with natural resources and I will explore these resources to create jobs for the youth, restore peace in Taraba, the north east and the country,” he said.
While urging the people to vote and defend their votes, Atiku cautioned security agencies against meddling in the electoral process, but called on them to do their constitutional duty of ensuring peace and orderliness.
Governor Darius Ishaku in his remark urged the people of the State to vote for Atiku to restore peace, fight insecurity and create jobs for the teeming youths of the country.
Ishaku assured the presidential candidate of unalloyed support by the people of the State to make sure his victory at the polls.
“Atiku is one of us, he has traversed the nooks and crannies of Taraba during the Gongola days, and a vote for Atiku is a vote for peace, job creation and unity of Nigeria,” he said.
In the same vein, national Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus urged the people of the State to vote Atiku for job creation, peace and prosperity of the country.
Secondus urged the Independent National Electoral Commission ,INEC, to give a level playing field for all so that the outcome of the polls would be accepted by all.
“Atiku will unite Nigeria, create jobs restore peace and stop hunger in Nigeria. I urge you all to come out and vote for PDP on February 16 and March 2.”
“Atiku is a symbol of unity and progress of the country and should be supported by all for a better Nigeria,” he said.
Our correspondent reports that a mammoth crowd of supporters came out at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo to welcome the Atiku campaign train.
