The Executive governor of Taraba state, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku yesterday received an award as the “Best Governor on Economic Recovery and Growth of the Agricultural Sector in Nigeria 2020.”
The award was necessitated by Governor Ishaku’s vision for agricultural rebirth aside underlying benefits of his administration’s achievements in the area of empowerment through skill acquisitions on young Tarabans who have benefitted from the schemes, ranging from Minister of Women and Poverty Alleviation to Hope Afresh Foundation.
The award was received by the former Minister for Water Resources, Chief Obadiah Ando, alongside Mr. Moses Maikomo, Permanent Secretary of Taraba Liaison Office, Abuja amongst notable Taraba dignitaries.
Taraba Agric. Commissioner Receives Stewardship and Integrity Award
The Taraba State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr David Ishaya Kassa has been presented with the 2018 Integrity Stewardship Award by the Centre for Save and Serve Humanity Organization, an organization which is into the fight against corruption, mal-administration and moral bankruptcy of political and public servants.
The commissioner was presented with a medal and a certificate today, Monday at his office in Jalingo by the Executive Director of the organization, Comrade Oyibo A. Abraham, in a ceremony that was witnessed by officials of the ministry.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Kassa, a veterinary doctor, expressed his joy for the award and dedicated it to Gov. Darius Ishaku for creating a platform for him to serve.
He stated that one of the achievements of the administration was the establishment of the 15 hectare greenhouse that has started producing vegetables which is now sold in malls in big cities across the country. He boasted by saying that since the creation of the State, it was only last year that fertiliser arrived before the raining season. He therefore, added that the award would spur him to do more and that Integrity would be his watchword.
In his speech, the Executive Director of the organization, Oyibo A. Abraham, stated that the Commissioner did not make a mistake in accepting the position as he was able to build on the federal and state government agenda in agriculture.
“We also gathered with great delight in terms of your performance such as: display of ethical leadership, developmental policy performance, public accessibility, servicom compliance, commitment to state government transformation agenda, attitude against corruption and obedience to the rule of law”, he stated.
Abraham then disclosed the criteria his organization used in judging the Commissioner. According to him;
“having satisfied with the report of the said assessment exercise conducted using opinion polls, questionnarre, interviews with informants and opinion sampling, field assessment, report writing, comments and vote on social media on your activities and performance in our society,we are left with no option than proclaiming you today with the title ” Service Ambassador” and presentation of this award “Certificate of Integrity Stewardship”.
