Gov. Ishaku Commissions 100-Bed Capacity Isolation Centre Donation to the State

Taraba state Governor, Arc. Darius Ishaku on Monday commissioned a one hundred bed capacity isolation and treatment centre put together in collaboration with Access Bank PLC as part of measures to deal with the covid-19 global pandemic in the state.

Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Haruna Manu, the governor said though there was currently no single case of covid-19 in the state due to the government’s response by not taking chances, the government is poised to ensure that in the unlikely even of an emergency, it should be fully prepared to respond appropriately.

Our correspondent observed that, Engr. Manu thanked the management of Access Bank for their great gesture and urged other well spirited individuals and groups to support government’s efforts at ensuring that the state remains covid-19 free.

Manu further noted that since there was no approved and confirmed vaccination or treatment for the pandemic, prevention remains the best bet and urged Tarabans to abide by the best global hygiene protocols for the prevention of the spread of covid-19.

“Gentlemen, we are all well aware that there is no treatment or vaccination available for the deadly covid-19 pandemic that is ravaging the whole world today and so prevention remains our best bet in the fight against the pandemic.

”As at today, we don’t have any active case of covid-19 in the state. But government is not resting on its efforts to make sure that we are not taken unawares. We are fully prepared to contain any emergency.”

“That is why this facility is of such great importance to us. Let me use this opportunity to appreciate Access Bank for supporting us with this facility. Your efforts are most commendable. I call on other well spirited individuals and groups to support our efforts at keeping Taraba state safe from covid-19.”

“We must also continue to observe the hygiene protocols prescribed by the WHO and reaffirmed by the Taraba state government such as; wearing of face masks, washing of hands and use of hand sanitizers, maintaining social distancing and others”.

According to our reporter, Manu further explained that government hoped that the facility would remain unused.

Governor Ishaku keenly listening to the Chairman of the state’s covid-19 team and Honourable Commissioner of Health, Dr. Innocent Vakkai during his inspection tour to the NYSC Isolation center.

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku says Taraba State is lucky with the low record of the dreaded Coronavirus ravaging the global community.

The Governor stated this during inspection of the one hundred bed space at the NYSC isolation center at Jauro Yinu.

He said at the moment all positive Covid-19 patients have been declared negative except for the eighty eight Almajiris whose results are still expected emphasizing that efforts are on ground to trace their parents.

Governor Ishaku decried the lack of ventilators and other testing kits to ascertain the true numbers of infected persons and assured Tarabans of his commitment to establish three testing centers for robust testing.

The Governor frowned at the manner people are still finding their way to the state despite the lockdown and charged security operatives to discharge their duties diligently in all border communities of the state.

He expressed happiness that more people are now sensitised on reasons behind the lock down through local government Chairmen and other stakeholders and commended religious leaders for doing same.

Governor Ishaku said the gradual easing of lockdown was what made him to allow people to move from Wednesday and Saturday from eight o’clock in the morning to six o’clock in the evening stating that he will look at the lockdown but not now.

The Governor applauded officials of the mobile court set to punish offenders of the lockdown order despite available reports that some people are still flouting the order.

He stressed that only those on essential duties are allowed to move during the lockdown.

Governor Ishaku thanked Access bank for partnering with the state government for ensuring that the center is set up to fight Covid 19 pandemic.

Covid-19: Gov. Ishaku Inspects Facilities, Expresses Satisfaction

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku today went round the state capital to inspect the COVID-19 facilities among which include the Isolation center.

The Governor expressed satisfaction with the facilities he saw at the isolation center located at the Specialist Hospital Jalingo.

The Governor however, expressed worries concerning one of the ventilators which was sent to the state which he noticed wasn’t working properly and directed the commissioner for Health, Dr. Innocent Vakkai to contact the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) immediately for replacement or for any available one to purchase.

Governor Ishaku once again called on the citizens to be patient with the present situation (lockdown) saying it is for the good of the state and assured that he is alert in making sure that everything is in place in keeping the state safe from the pandemic.

He was in the company of His Deputy, Engr. Haruna Manu, SSG Hon. Anthony Jellason, Chief of Staff Rt. Hon. Istiphanus Haruna Gbana and other Government Funtionaries.
