Rescue Watch: November 2016 Report for Kurmi

Activity Observation Remark
Visit to Didan Palace The following requests were presented by the Village Head:

That the forest in kurmi is fast depleted due to excessive logging, and if no serious measures is taken to curb this situation, the environment will react and lives will be threatened.

Ministry of Agriculture to take note.
  Shortage of water and the need to drill more boreholes as that done by the community is not functional. Ministry of Water Resources to note.
Town Hall meeting in Didan Ward Need to provide portable drinking water by drilling of borehole in Gidan-Ali unit. Ministry of Water Resources to take note.
  Inadequate health personnel in the Primary Health Care Centre. Ministry of Health to take note.
 
  • In most of the villages in the ward, Primary Schools have no classroom structures hence the need to construct blocks of classrooms.
  • Lack of teachers.

  Request His Excellency to construct the Mararaba-Baissa-Abong road as this was part of the campaign promise. Fedral Ministry of Works and His Excellency to note.
  Request for the construction of a bridge to link Gidan Yamusa with Ruwan Sanyi. CTC Chairman, take note.
  Request for fertilizer and farm implement. Ministry of Agriculture.
Visit to GSS Didan The following observations were made by the team:

  • The school has only four permanent teachers, three Corps Members and two volunteers that are paid N5000 each.
  • Encroachment of School land by community.
  • Dilapidated exam hall.

  Need for borehole in the School. Ministry of Water Resources to take note.
Visit to Didan Primary School
  • The School has only three teachers hence the need for more teachers.
  • The School did not benefit from the recently distributed books.

Visit to GDSS Sabon-gida
  • Lack of adequate teaching staff, as only 5 permanent Teachers are available.
  • The School has no Laboratory, kitchen and Dining hall.

Visit to Gidan Yamusa No staff in the Primary Health Care Center. Ministry of Health to take note.
  The Primary School building has no roof. SUBEB to take note.
  Need for a borehole in the village. Ministry of Water Resources to take note.
Visit to Danbeki Health Care Centre A visit to the Clinic revealed that no sinlge staff was on ground. Ministry of Health to take note.
Visit to Danbeki Secondary School No teacher was seen in Gidan mallamba and Gidan Mallam Primary Schools. SUBEB to act.
