Gov Ishaku Orders Payment of Two Months Salaries for Cleared 2,960 LG Staff

Governor Darius Ishaku has ordered the payment of two months salaries for the 2,960 Local Government Staff recently cleared by the verification commitee set up by the State Government.

Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Yero disclosed this yesterday in Jalingo while briefing Journalists on the issue of Local Government Staff salaries.

According to him, the Bureau received over 9,878 complaints from Local Government Staff, but the committee set up by the State Government only cleared 2,960 which the Governor has ordered immediate payment of their two months owed salaries.

“While the biometric exercise is yet to be concluded in view of the hitches of BVN  and names mismatch, the Bureau and National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) met and harmonised complaints of 2,960 Staff.

“Consequently, N75,625,738.55 has been approved by Government per month and UBA has been directed to commence the payment effective today (yesterday),” he said.

Bello noted that Governor Ishaku was passionate about payment of salaries and warned against politicising the issue of payment of salaries.

He commended Governor Ishaku for his commitment in bettering the lives of Taraba people and NULGE for the commitment and maturity in handling the issue.

In his remarks, Comrade Musa Mahmud, Deputy President NULGE Taraba State commended Governor Ishaku for his efforts in addressing the issue of salaries in the State, adding that NULGE will continue to be patient with Government and always employ dialogue in approaching issues.
