Press Release: Gov. Ishaku Condemns the Gruesome Murder of a Pastor and his Wife

His Excellency, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku, Executive Governor of Taraba State has received with shock news of the dastardly murder of Emmanuel Bileya, a Pastor of the CRC-N Church, Mararaba, Donga LGA, and his wife, Juliana.

Both of them were reportedly attacked by militia men and killed while working on their farm in Mararaba.

Gov. Ishaku condemned the killings as wicked and inhuman. He said killings of this nature have happened too often recently in Southern Taraba communities and described this situation as unhelpful to the on-going efforts of the government to achieve lasting peace among communities in the area.

He expressed sympathy with the surviving members of Pastor Bileya’s immediate and extended families as well as pastors and members of CRC-N  in Mararaba where he served until his death.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims.

“No Case of Coronavirus Infection in Taraba State” – Commissioner, CPS

The Taraba state Government wishes to state for the umpteenth time that there is no case of Coronavirus in the state.

This was contained in a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hassan Mijinyawa, MCIPR.

It states that the impression, therefore, created recently by the television station which claimed that Taraba State has one case of the infection is wrong and misleading and that the television station in question has acknowledged it’s mistake and promptly deleted Taraba State from the list of states with the infection.

It states that the government urges the public to ignore that wrong story and continue to follow the rules of personal hygiene and to observe the stay at home regulations introduced by the government to keep the virus away permanently from the state.

Similarly, the Hon. Commissioner for Health and Chairman, Technical Committee on Covid-19, Dr. Innocent Vakkai debunked the report by TVC where they reported on 12/4/2019 that a case of COVID-19 was recorded in the state as false and should be ignored.

Taraba State has received the news of a case of COVID 19 recorded on 12/4/2019.

I wish to state that no such incident took place in the State and i therefore call on the general public to ignore this news as reported by TVC.

As NCDC has confirm no positive case reported from Taraba State.

TVC erred in their reportage.

The statement categorically on behalf of the First Family of Taraba State maintains that no member of the family has tested positive to Coronavirus.

It adds that none of the children of Governor Ishaku is presently in Taraba State, describing the allegation as a fallacy and contains not a single grain of truth.

The statement says the allegation emanated from the handiwork of mischief makers who are out to discredit the laudable proactive steps Governor Ishaku has taken to prevent Coronavirus infection from Taraba State.

It urges the good people of Taraba State to disregard the social media publication which is only a figment of the imagination of the enemies of progress.
