
Sardauna Local Government Gets New Acting Chairman.
Taraba state Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku yesterday swore in the New Caretaker Chairman of Sardauna Local Government Area, Rev. Godswill Sol, with a charged to be sincere, fair and work relentlessly to improve the peace situation of the area.

Governor Darius Ishaku said this in the Exco Chamber Government House Jalingo, shortly after the oath office was administered on the New Caretaker Chairman, lamenting that the crisis which would have been avoided degenerated into killing and maiming of one another, stressing that, it was a painful experience on the part of the state Government and the people of Sardauna local government.
Darius Ishaku told the New Caretaker Chairman that he is saddled with the herculean task of ensuring that the eroded mutual trust and confidence and the spirit of brotherhood that existed amongst the people in the past cutting across all the tribes in the Mambilla Plateau are restored forth with.
He maintained that the crisis which was started in one community in the area spread like wildfire fire to almost all parts of the council area because of the activities of some disgruntled elites that never wish the people of the area to coexist peacefully with one another for their selfish gains and challenged him to be conscious of people with such negative tendencies.
The Governor who said he was seriously pained over the crisis, however, warned the people of the area that is fond of making unguided utterances to desist from such act, stressing that Government will not hesitate to deal with any person or group of persons that do not wish the people of Sardauna to coexist peacefully.
Governor Darius Ishaku then used the opportunity and stated thus, “I wish to make it clear that swearing in of the Acting Chairman today does not mean that the peace building efforts we have embarked upon will be discontinued.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to appeal to all stakeholders involved in the peace process to continue with their meetings and consultations until the solution for lasting peace is arrived at.
“In the same vein, Government efforts at getting to the roots of the immediate and remote causes of the crisis, especially, judicial commission of inquiry will continue and will be properly concluded and findings addressed accordingly,” he assured.
Accordingly, Darius Ishaku told the New Caretaker Chairman of Sardauna local government area that his emergence and subsequent swearing in was made possible by the Sardauna Local Government Legislative Council who unanimously agreed to suspend the elected Chairman and his Vice for the period of three months in order to allow for better progress in the ongoing peace process, saying that the exercise was in fulfilment of their Constitutional responsibility conferred on them by the laws of land.
He called on the Caretaker Chairman to as a matter of urgency key into the peace building processes to ensure the restoration of lasting peace and to speedily facilitate the return of brotherly reunion within the shortest period of time in Gembu, Sardauna Local Government Area.
Responding, the New Caretaker Chairman of Sardauna Local Government Area, Godswill Sol appreciated the effort of the state in making sure that the crisis was nipped in the bud speedily and assured the Governor that he will work tirelessly for the peace and progress of Sardauna Local Government.
Godswill Sol assured the Governor that the peace efforts would be further enhanced to ensure that the calm so achieved courtesy of the state Government will be adequately sustained, maintained and fortified for mutual trust to flourish in the area amongst the people.
The oath of office and that of allegiance was administered on the New Caretaker Chairman, Godswill Sol by the state Chief Judge, Justice Josephine Yakubu Tuktur.
