Rtd. Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas Dantala Swearing to an Oath as the new Executive Governor of Taraba State.

Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has officially handed over leadership to the new Governor, Rtd. Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas Dantala who carried out his first assignment by inspecting a guard of honor mounted by the Nigeria Police and other security agencies.

Addressing the people of Taraba State, Governor Agbu Kefas expressed his happiness and gratitude for the trust they placed in him through their massive support. He acknowledged the importance of counsel and mentorship from various individuals, particularly highlighting General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, whom he regarded as a dear father and role model.

The Governor emphasized the need for unity and called on all citizens to put their differences aside to move the state forward. He pledged transparency, responsiveness, and a willingness to welcome constructive criticism in his administration.

Governor Agbu Kefas emphasized his commitment to social justice and the rule of law. His key priorities include addressing the challenges faced by the youth, women, and people with disabilities, with a focus on tackling unemployment and marginalization.

The Governor expressed his determination to create an enabling environment for prosperity and empowerment, utilizing various tools to secure a better future for the next generation. He highlighted the importance of prioritizing basic healthcare, education, and security, as well as the equitable distribution of resources to improve living conditions.

The Governor emphasized the need for unified and peaceful efforts in overcoming challenges and urged Tarabans to embrace change, tap into the energy of the state’s youth, and leverage the experience of all communities.

Governor Agbu Kefas expressed gratitude to former Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku and his team for their work over the past eight years and thanked his family for their support and credited them, along with his parents, for shaping him into the leader he is today.

Governor Agbu Kefas concluded by expressing optimism and commitment to serving the people of Taraba State, promising to utilize the most qualified individuals in his government. He called for the support of the citizens in achieving success and fostering unity and progress in the state.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma and Reverend Jolly Tavoro Nyame, among others.

The Executive Governor of Taraba State Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku today swore in 6 Permanent Secretaries, 5 Special Advisers and Caretaker Chairman Ibi LG. The event took place at the Exco Chambers of Government House, Jalingo.

Speaking after the swearing in, the governor said that the purpose of government is to improve the quality of any society and he is making sure that it comes to stay. He said senior officers are to be transparent in making sure that they teach the junior officers and that all hands must be on deck in making sure that the right things are done.

The governor said the re-training of the younger once should be top priority and every top hard working civil servant is an engine room of a government, stressing that if the engine room is working then all other sector will be waxing stronger. He urged all civil servants to please avail themselves for learning as the opportunity will soon be made available as learning is a continuous process that helps in improving our daily lives. He congratulated the Advisers and said they are already in the rescue train and the train doesn’t wait because it is a train filled with passionate people with a mission to transform Taraba state.

He however made it clear that the days of one riding twelve horses with lot on him is gone. Ishaku said his first priority is to pay the civil servants which he is doing and will continue his best on it. Though he regretted that some people have taken it upon themselves to be matching the street with false reason, Governor Ishaku urged them to desist from such.

Governor Ishaku said that the state is indeed a blessed state endowed with abundant natural resources and it is his desires that one day Taraba will be a reference point. He said life is not all about how long you live but how well you impact the society and leave legacies behind for your people.

He told the newly sworn in Caretaker Chairman to know that he is there to go and serve because his predecessor has worked earnestly in making sure that they live in peace with other neighboring states.

He thanked the former Care taker Chairman for all his contributions in making sure that peace returns and pointed out that Adasho has held series of meetings with other states which has stepped up the level of peace in ibi and urge the newly sworn in CTC to take it up from there.

He said Nwoyo will be revived but until the peace is been sustained. He finally thanked religious leaders for their efforts in preaching love and wished everyone swooned in today a successful tenure.

The swearing in ceremony was well attended by top government officials/personalities such as the Deputy Governor, Engr. Haruna Man, the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Josephine Tuktur, PDP Chairman, Victor Bala Kona, the SSG, Hon. Anthony Jellason, Commissioners, Chief of Staff Government House, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistance and well wishers.
