


Wife of Taraba Governor Donates Drugs, Food Items and Cash to Families of Rescued Children

Trafficked Children reunites with their families.
Over 365 trafficked children have been reunited back with their families through the efforts of NAPTIP and the state task force.
Her Excellency, Mrs. Agyin Agbu Kefas who received the rescued children, took the responsibility of reuniting them with thier families.
She also donated drugs, clothes, food items and cash to families of the rescued children.
She celebrate the reunion and reintegration of over 365 children who were trafficked and intercepted.
Expressing joy at their children’s return, the families commended the state government NAPTIP and the state task force for their commitment towards tackling human trafficking.
They said that this development shows that we have a functional government institutions, stressing that their return and reunion with their children is a thing of joy to both them and the community.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony includes the Secretary to the Government of the State, Chief (Barr.) G.T Kataps, and others.

Wife of Taraba Governor Marks Breastfeeding Week

World Breastfeeding Week 2023.
In commemoration of the World Breastfeeding Week 2023, Her Excellency, Mrs. Agyin Agbu Kefas, addressed the need for families and all stakeholders to help nursing mothers to achieve adequate breastfeeding of their babies, saying this will have positive effects on national health in the long run.
Mrs. Agyin, said breastfeeding promote the importance of family-friendly policies to enable breastfeeding and help parents nurture and bond with their children in early life, when it matters most stressing that mothers also need access to a parent friendly workplace to protect and support their ability to continue breastfeeding upon return to work by having access to breastfeeding breaks; a safe, private, and hygienic space for expressing and storing breastmilk; and affordable childcare.

World Breastfeeding Week 2023.
Breastfeeding decreases the risk of mothers developing breast cancer, ovarian cancer, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. It is estimated that increased breastfeeding could avert 20,000 maternal deaths each year due to breast cancer.
The world health body recommends exclusive breastfeeding starting within one hour after birth until a baby is 6 months old. Nutritious complementary foods should then be added while continuing to breastfeed for up to two years or beyond.
The World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year from August 1-7 to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world.The Day commemorates the Innocent Declaration signed in August 1990 by government policymakers, WHO, UNICEF and other organisations to protect, promote and support breastfeeding.

Taraba First Lady Calls For Zero Tolerance Against Human Trafficking

United Nations Day Against Human Trafficking.
Her Excellency, Mrs. Agyin Agbu Kefas, joined hundreds of Tarabans to trek to commemorate the United Nations Day against zero tolerance for Human Trafficking in the State.
The Taraba First Lady however appealed to all stakeholders to adopt zero tolerance for the protection of our citizens so as to effectively tackle this menace.
She implore parents to be vigilant when trusting their children to unknown individuals and call for the unity of our religious leaders, law enforcement agencies, teachers, community leader and policy makers to combat this wicked acts in our land even as she celebrated the reunion and reintegration of over 365 children who were victims of trafficking but were intercepted.
Mrs. Agyin thanked the Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas and his team for ordering the renovation of shelters and facilities where these children are kept, and making primary and secondary education free and viewed as a crucial step in breaking the circle of exploitation.

Wife of Governor Agbu Kefas Empowers 50 Taraba Women Across 24 Constituency

Her Excellency, Mrs. Agyin Agbu Kefas Empowers 50 Women.
Fifty women drawn from the 24 Constituency of Taraba state through the wives of their members have been empowered with one hundred thousand naira each as grants to start up menial businesses.
Her Excellency, Mrs. Agyin Agbu Kefas, who hosted the beneficiaries in her office along side the wives of Taraba State House of Assembly Members provided the funds for the 50 beneficiaries.
She stressed that it is important to empower women because they require very little capital to grow their businesses and such empowerment is sure to affect the whole family and even the community.
Her Excellency, Agyin Agbu Kefas, has conveyed her heartfelt felicitations to Nigeria’s First Lady, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on the occasion of her 63rd birthday celebration.
In a congratulatory message, Mrs Kefas commended the First Lady as a distinguished and patriotic Nigerian who has dedicated her life to selfless service, serving as an inspiring testament to her unwavering commitment to both God and humanity.
The Exquisite First Lady, acknowledged Senator Tinubu’s steadfast support for her husband, His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, saying she has stood as a strong pillar throughout their shared journey.
Maman Taraba noted with delight that during her tenure as Senator, she ardently championed the rights of the less privileged and tirelessly defended the rights of women and children, leaving an indelible mark on legislative matters.
