IMPROVING THE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT IN TARABA: THE SABER PROGRAM

The Taraba State Government is proud to be a participant in the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Program. This initiative, co-designed by the World Bank and the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), aims to transform Taraba into a more attractive destination for businesses.

What is SABER?

SABER is a performance-based program that provides financial incentives to states in Nigeria for implementing reforms that make it easier to start and run a business. By streamlining processes, reducing bureaucracy, and ensuring transparency, SABER fosters an environment that encourages entrepreneurship, investment, and economic growth.

Benefits for Taraba State

Through its participation in SABER, Taraba State expects to achieve several key benefits:

  • Increased Investment: A more business-friendly environment will attract new businesses to Taraba, leading to job creation and economic diversification.
  • Improved Efficiency: SABER reforms will streamline government procedures, saving businesses time and money.

What is Taraba Doing?

The Taraba State Government is committed to implementing the reforms outlined under the SABER program. This includes focusing on five key result areas:

  1. Starting a Business
  2. Dealing with Construction Permits
  3. Getting Electricity
  4. Registering Property
  5. Enforcing Contracts

The government is working diligently to improve performance in each of these areas. This may involve measures such as:

  • Simplifying business registration procedures
  • Reducing the time and cost required to obtain construction permits Streamlining the process of connecting to the electricity grid
  • Making it easier and faster to register property ownership
  • Strengthening the legal system to ensure efficient contract enforcement
