SABER Program in Taraba State
The State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) program is a World Bank- funded initiative aimed at driving economic growth in Nigerian states by incentivizing business-friendly reforms. States receive financial rewards for achieving specific results, fostering a competitive environment for private sector investment.
SABER's significance for Taraba lies in its potential to catalyze economic transformation. By implementing key reforms, Taraba can:
A business environment & improved infrastructure will make Taraba more attractive to investors, creating jobs and boosting revenue.
A robust PPP framework will enable Taraba to leverage private sector resources for infrastructure and development projects.
Openness in government fees and procedures will curb corruption, enhance service delivery, and build trust with businesses and citizens.
The Annual State Business-Enabling Reforms Action Plan (BERAP) is a key component of the SABER program. States are required to prepare and publish these plans, which must be approved by the State Executive Council.
